Vintage 1960's "Talking Stage Coach" Japanese Tin Toy, Battery Operated--Used. Hard to find Baby Boomer Toy. Yonezawa Toys Company, Ltd, of Tokyo, Japan. The Stage Coach measures 16" Long, 5" Wide and 6 1/2 High.It is battery powered (2 - D size batteries). There is an "On/Off" lever located on the right side of the stage coach near the driver.
The motor for the stagecoach does work- unfortunately the plastic cog to make the coach axels move has dried out and needs to be replaced. The battery compartment is clean, with no signs of rust /corrosion from batteries--there are some scuff imperfections on the interior chrome door. From my research online I discovered the toy, when the sound switch (under the wagon) is turned on, made sounds of Native Americans attacking the wagon (motor does function for the sound wheel)- but the wheel needs to be carefully disassembled and cleaned to restore whatever sound it made. The chrome colored lantern is missing on the right side of the coach. The roof of the coach has worn paint and some small dents/bends to the upper metal rails.
The driver/horse harness is missing. Overall the toy is in good condition in spite of this toy's age. It is a well- played with toy---hard to find. Thanks for stopping to look!
