In this listing we are offering an interesting & visually pleasing Japanese tin battery operated toy named on the box "Miss Friday The Typist". This toy was made in Japan in the 1950's. Included with the toy is the original box. The toy including the box weighs 1 pound 1 ounce.

The front of the desk has a smooth bend. Otherwise, the actual toy (with a head that is made of vinyl) is in excellent, fresh, unused, unplayed with condition. However, the girl's head slips out & we do not want to force it to stay in. ALSO NOTE: the toy has been tested & the toy DOES NOT WORK. Also, offered & included with this toy is the original box.

HOWEVER: the original box is in stained, very rough, torn, chipped, creased, scuffed. If all of those numerous significant flaws to the box were not enough to call the box as being in poor condition then the fact that a previous owner has, idiotically, written on the box with a felt tip pen the wording "Old Tin Toy Needs Batteries" should cement the box claim as being poor.

The toy is not working but is in fresh, beautiful, & in unplayed with condition..... The box, alas, is a completely poor condition messed up wreck. The box measures 6 3/8 inches by 6 3/8 inches cross the top by 5 3/16 from top to bottom. The toy from front to back of the toy measures 6 inches. The toy with folding parts to desk folded down measures 6 1/8 inches (from left to right) & with folded parts folded up measures 8 5/8 inches (from left to right).

The height is 8 inches tall to the top of head (with head in socket). The name Miss Friday was likely derived from the term Girl Friday that was used more often years ago to refer to a woman or clerk who worked in an office and did many office jobs including work as a secretary. The term "His Girl Friday" was used as the title for a 1940's movie starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell who played the part of "His Girl Friday". This fascinating Japanese toy is a recent fresh find from a Lancaster County.

This item is inventory #11,128. Is an estimate and the actual cost may differ.
