1960 Linemar Mickey the Magician battery operated tin toy + box, Disney, Japan

  

"Mickey the Magician" battery operated tin toy made in 1960 in Japan by Linemar Toys. Attery-operated toy with bright tin lithography. When complete and operational, Mickey stands and moves a hat up and down producing and vanishing a baby chicken (you can find videos of this on YouTube). I tested this item and was NOT able to get it to run.

I have made no attempt to repair it. It does NOT include the chicken, you get only what is pictured. TOY: Mickey is in very good condition: minimal wear on hands and ears, vest on back has some damage under the cape, the cape is fully intact and clean, wand straight and true, paint is excellent, tin has a sharp point/very minor damage on back under the cape but is otherwise excellent. Top hat shows light wear.

Tin base is excellent: very minor scuffs and loss (appears to be from rubbing on the box while stored), switch action is smooth, battery door works well, battery compartment is clean with no corrosion. BOX: Box top is a bit dirty. I have not made any attempt to clean it or repair it. It has tears in the cardboard that have been taped (with masking tape) on the interior of the box to hold them closed--much of this tape is now losing its adhesive ability. These repairs were performed by a previous owner. Box bottom is dirty but intact. If you would like to see more photos please send me a message, happy to provide detail shots upon request!
