Vintage YONEZAWA BATTERY Operated ELECTRO SPECIAL RACER. Free of a remote control, cables, and the limited run of friction type cars, the Electro Special Racer propels itself for as long as the battery will last. Yonezawa made a custom, special motor to move this heavy battery operated toy car, hence the name Electro Special Racer. The Electro Racer Special was a street car, running on asphalt, banging into concrete curbs.

The name Sanyo is printed on 4 rubber tires. The racer is heavy gauge tin, and solidly build, but few survived the play. This example is untouched and not restored, complete with all original parts.

The chrome has gracefully tarnished over 60 years. The chrome front bumper, front grill, side mounted exhaust pipe, window frame and on/off power stick do not have any breaks, cracks, separations, bends or distortions in shape. Notably, the windshield frame and original celluloid windshield are intact and original. The brass finishing is original and complete on the four tin, red hub caps. The front wheels are secured by a nut and bold, the rear wheels are held in place by crimping the two ends of the axle. The battery compartment is clean, without corrosion. The car measures 8.5 inches long, 4.5 inches vertically from the tire bottoms to the helmet top. The toy uses one D cell battery and did not run when last tested. No restoration work has been done. Everything is original to this car. The pictures are your best reference to evaluate the finish, including scratches and other aspects of the toy complexion.
