Original 1950's "Candy Vending Machine Savings Bank" tin toy mechanical bank with original box. The toy was made by "W Toy Japan" & has the maker's mark on the back left hand corner of the bank as well as the two patent numbers marking Pat. The toy measures 9 9/16 inches tall by 6 7/8 inches across the base by 4 3/4 inches deep. So, this is quite a large & very impressive tin toy mechanical bank. The clown inside & the candy mechanism inside & the entire case is made of litho tin which is gorgeous & bright & has amazingly fresh & wonderful luster.

On all the tin surfaces the toy exhibits the ultimate depth of colors & a supreme freshness. The condition is up to such a high level that it is unlikely that the toy was more than a tiny speck better (if at all) at the very second that the toy left the factory!! There is one small 1/2 inch by 3/16 inch spot of factory touch-up to the blue background on the left side. We absolutely guarantee that this occurred in the factory during the making. There is one little thin line scrape to the tin at the back left corner of the roof that occurred in the making when the toy was assembled.

We, also, absolutely guarantee that this occurred in the factory during the assembly. We have very carefully opened the battery box to examine the condition. The cardboard sections are 100% totally fresh & crisp & show no use. There are two shiny sections of tin on the sides.

Both of these are so bright that they could easily function as mirrors. One of the tin sides has some slight subtle & entirely insignificant oxidation from age on a small bit of the surface. The copper battery terminals are shiny, clean, & fresh & have clearly never even been touched by batteries. As we opened the battery box to inspect it the feeling was that it had never before been opened. Also, the coin slot has clearly never had a coin ever enter in to it.

Obviously, this candy vending mechanical bank was never used!!! That is why the condition is so astonishing. Because of that, respecting the current astonishing condition of the toy, we are not going to put any batteries in the battery box to test it. So, we are offering the toy as NOT WORKING since it has not been tested.

The bank is way too nice to put even the slightest wear on it anywhere!! Essentially, this toy bank has 99.99+ of the fresh, bright, shiny, gorgeous original litho surface intact. The toy is truly in entirely astonishing & completely breath taking condition.

This is an extremely rare mechanical bank which is very hard to find in any condition. We feel confident to say, without hesitation, that the example we are offering of this very rare tin toy mechanical bank is easily the finest known!!!!! The front of the toy bank has the entirely original solid, firm, fresh, & crystal clear plastic window. The interior has a colorful litho three dimensional tin clown inside who is in crisp wet mint unplayed with condition (just like the rest of the toy).

He was intended to turn a crank around causing the mechanism to dispense hard candy or peanuts. On another side is a tiger in the litho with the wording "Get Your Candy". On the back is a male lion in the litho with the wording Instructions Battery Operated Candy Vending Machine Fill The Plastic Funnel With Small Hard Candies, Or Peanuts. The box is 100% complete & is entirely original. The front left bottom corner of the box lid has the maker's marking of "W Toy Japan".

One end of the box lid shows two kids playing with the toy bank. The two side panels have instructions. The box colors are very fresh, deep, & attractive with optimum richness & absolutely no fading. The box lid has a tiny bit of soiling at the right front edge just over the kid's head.

There is a slight bit of surface wear to the top left hand corner on the left side panel of the box lid. The box lid has sunken down a bit from age. The box lid feels tight, stiff, & solid. The box lid retains all four of the original staples which are still in their correct positions.

The outside of the staples retain the majority of their original copper flashing intermingled with some toning. The insides of the four staples are oxidized. The box bottom has the original eight staples still in their correct positions. Seven of the staples have most of their original copper flashing. One of the staples has some surface rust.

One top edge of the box bottom has a 3/4 inch tear. A small 3/8 inch by 3/8 inch #10.

Is inked under the box bottom at one corner. The right side panel of the box bottom has a 3/4 inch brown stain. One end of the box bottom has a red & white Japanese inspection sticker with the wording Passed J. The box bottom feels very stiff, sound, & solid & is very fresh & clean. The box bottom measures 9 3/4 inches by 7 1/4 inches wide by 5 3/4 inches tall. This is certainly one of the ultimate rarities in the small group of illusive classics in the 1950's battery operated tin toy mechanical bank genre. The reference number for this item is #7814.
