1950's TM JAPAN BEAR TARGET GAME BATTERY OPERATED TOY WITH COLORFUL ORIGINAL BOX

  
Original 1950's "Bear Target Game" battery operated tin toy with original box. The toy was made by TM (Modern Toys) of Japan & has their maker's mark on the front bottom left corner of the box. The toy measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 7 1/4 inches across the the base from left to right by 5 1/4 inches deep across the base from front to back. The bear is made of litho tin which is gorgeous, bright, & has amazingly fresh & wonderful luster.

The original glass eyes are as fresh as when the toy was made. The original drum is made with tin around the middle & cardboard on the top & bottom.

The drum is crisp, bright, & fresh & shows no use. The litho tin base on the sides & top woodsy scene is very colorful & extremely attractive. The top & sides of the base are all fresh & wonderful & show no signs of use. Essentially, the litho on all of the tin of this toy is 99.99+ & completely amazing!! The back of the base has the marking "Trade Mark TM Modern Toys".

The bottom of the tin litho base is fresh & bright. The interior of the battery box lid as well as the areas for the batteries is fresh & bright. The battery terminals are fresh & bright & un-oxidized.

When we put batteries in to test the toy nothing happened & there was no movement & no action in the toy. So, we are offering the toy as NOT WORKING. Until we opened the battery box to test the toy it is unlikely that in the life of the toy that it was ever even tested before we did a test.

That is how fresh the battery box interior looks. The box is 100% complete & is entirely original. The box colors are very fresh, deep, & attractive with optimum richness & absolutely no fading. The box lid has a few minor insignificant surface wrinkles.

The box lid is tight, stiff, & solid. The box lid retains all eight of the original staples still in their correct positions. The staples which were copper flashed when the box was made now have oxidation. One end of the box top has a stamped number that is marked through. The box bottom is stiff, sound, & solid.

On the corners of the box bottom at one end there are two tears measuring 1 inch & 1 1/4 inch. The box bottom retains all eight of the original staples still in their correct positions. The staples which were copper flashed when the box was made now have about 50% of the original copper flashing intact & about 50% oxidation. The interior of the box bottom has one light thin surface scuff at one end which is about 5 inches long which ranges from 1/16 inch to 3/8 inch wide. The box measures 9 1/2 inches by 7 3/4 inches by 5 5/8 inches.

The box still retains the two original cardboard inserts. One is flat & the other is folding as issued. Both are in excellent & very fresh condition. One of the original rubber drumsticks, which is still in the bear's hand, has cracked from age.

The other original rubber drumstick has broken loose & is detached from the bear's hand. However, fortunately, the second drumstick is still present. The original gray plastic dart gun (in sound working order) is present as are two original rubber tipped darts. Both the plastic gun & the darts are in crisp fresh all original condition.

The two darts are in a thin clear plastic bag which they were in when we found the toy. We think that this is the original bag of issue for the darts. But, we are not certain on this point. A truly exceptional example of this beautiful toy which represents a rare opportunity for the advanced battery op or bear collector.
